Refilling

At PickEco you can bring (or buy) empty containers to reuse & refill with personal and home essentials!

Jars

We sell our signature glass jars and offer free sanitized donated jars! (Mason Jars for a $1)

Paper Bags

For dry bulk goods there are paper bags available around the store.

Any Container

Bring any container, just make sure to have it weighed before filling!

Jar Deposit Program

Our jar swap or returnable jar program is designed to promote sustainability and reduce waste. Here’s how it works:

Certain products can only be purchased pre-filled, in deposit jars. This is to ensure strict sanitization of the jars before filling. These include: peanut butter, maple syrup, honey and some prepackaged specialty items!

For anything else, you can refill the jars in-store or order a refill online in a compostable paper bag. (Think spices, dry goods etc)

A small deposit is added to the price of the product. This deposit is fully refundable when you return the jar.

Take the jars home, use the products, and enjoy them as you normally would!

Once you’ve emptied the jars and cleaned them to the best of your ability, bring them back to our store on your next visit. Don't forget the lid!

When you return the jars, our staff will quickly confirm they are our unique jars and discount the deposit cost of the jar off your next purchase.

Feel free to purchase more products in returnable jars and continue participating in the program. It’s a great way to reduce packaging waste and contribute to a more sustainable environment.

Our jar swap program makes it easy and convenient for you to reduce waste and support eco-friendly practices. If you have any questions or need assistance, our staff is always here to help!

Do you accept jars?

Yes, we happily accept glass jars and wide mouth containers to sanitize and share for those who may forget their containers or need a different size!

Keep an eye out for our bin of FREE Jars for use while shopping and our bin by the till to donate old jars.

How do you sanitize jars?

After washing, jars undergo a sanitization process using a food-grade sanitizer. This step ensures that any remaining bacteria or germs are eliminated.

Air Drying:

Clean jars are air-dried in a hygienic environment to prevent any contamination from towel drying.

Final Inspection:

Once dry, jars undergo a final inspection to ensure they are spotless and ready for reuse.

What other sustainability initiatives does PickEco have?

We have a battery bin in the store to save you a trip to the depot.

We host the pick up spot for swapping soda stream cylinders for Sardis Sodas.

We participate in clean ups and we are carbon neutral because of our compost division!
